Day 2: Fish
I am so confused. I dont get what Ive done wrong to get me into this position, but it must have been something terrible. Nggr
I try to lift my right arm up, but its handcuffed to the side of the bed and wont move more than five inches. Sitting up is too much of a drag, so I flop back down on the bed and kick off the white sheets covering my half naked body.
The bedroom seems like it would be a very pleasant room under normal circumstances. There is a window right above my head that lets in sunlight through white lace curtains that flutter in the breeze. If I could see properly, I bet I would see a blue vase with a sunflower in it. The walls around me are painted a creamy white, and theres a desk to my right. The chair belonging to the desk is to my left. It seems as if I had a visitor here earlier.
The wooden door opens, and a man comes in. If I didnt know better, I would think that someone stuck me in a retirement home. But I do know better, because, after doubling checking in the mirror above the desk, I am still young, and my memory tells me that I am in school. The man unlocks me from the bed and disappears before I can thank him. Not that I had intended to thank him in the first place.
I get out of bed and start to wander out of the room, but I dont get very far when a boy about my age calls out to me. He looks pleased with himself and is holding a cube of water with a single goldfish in it. Its our goldfish, and we have to take it upstairs to the laboratory.
He is a silent person, which is fine by me, Im not in the mood to talk anyway, but I cant shake off the feeling that theres something more to him than his being my partner.
Weve reached the laboratory. There are a couple of other students there too two are making out behind the teachers desk, three girls are giggling at them, and one is standing next to the huge fish tank at the back of the room. The room is dark, and the only source of lighting comes from the fish tank which glows blue.
My partner and I walk over to the fish tank and drop the fish in. We set the cube of water to the side and leave for awhile.
When we come back, our fish is out of water and breathing heavily. Quickly, we slip the fish back into water and watch as its flaking tail soaks up the water around it. My partner looks thoroughly confused as to who would do this, but I know exactly who the culprit is. It is his father.
It was also his father who put me in the room and chained me to the bed. I have a feeling that he is threatening me with the fish.
My partner turns away, momentarily distracted by one of the girls, and my eyes follow him, causing me to feel oddly jealous. When he leans in closer to her, I look back to the fish tank, only to find that my fish is out of the water again. Irritated and perplexed (for Im sure I didnt see anyone take it out), I pick it up and toss it back into the tank. I watch as it struggles for a few moments before it finally manages to swim around. Seeing that it is alright, I take my eyes away for a few moments to look at the other fish swimming in the blue waters.
There are many colorful fish of different sizes that wander about the tank thats designed to look like the ocean. I spot an octopus somewhere along the way and a squid as well. There are some fish that shouldnt be living together, but none of them seem to have any qualms with each other, so who am I to say they shouldnt be?
My partner comes back and alerts me of the fact that our fish is, yet again, drying up outside the tank. I dont get it, and neither does he, but he shakes his head and drops the fish back in. I open my mouth to tell him who I believe the culprit to be, despite the fact that I have no proof, but before I can say a word, he is kissing me.
Oh. OH. OH!
I dont think his father approves of us.
Sometimes you have to wonder what your mind is thinking when it keeps trying to kill your science project.
