Shes sitting on the schools rooftop all alone. The sky matches her mood: both gloomy and depressed, but not yet crying. A gust of wind blows past as she lets out a sigh, and, if it were any other moment in time, she would be laughing at the coincidences.
Suddenly, the metal door opens and a boy two years her junior steps out. Her eyes flicker past him so quickly that she might as well have not looked at him at all. The action discourages him a bit, but he feels obliged to talk to her.
So, slowly, very slowly, he walks over to her and sits down on the concrete ground next to her.
Her head doesnt turn to acknowledge him though he stares at her as if expecting her to react. After a few minutes, he hesitantly says, Hey, but he isnt answered. He smiles awkwardly, though only the nervousness reaches his eyes as he tries again. You look sad.
Her head turns slightly to the side, but her eyes remain focused on the building tops in the distance. Normally, she would respond to him sarcastically and bitterly, but her throat is too tired from screaming to say anything.
His smile disappears as he takes his green eyes away from her when he understands that he wont get any response. He turns them to look at the wide expanse she has been staring at as if expecting, like she undoubtedly has, something miraculous to happen.

Would you believe me if I told you I was once a hero? Would you listen to the story of my downfall if you did? And if you didn't, would you ridicule me like all the others 'til I was nothing more than a shadow in passing like all the others you've hurt?
